The new Little Italy Mercato is raising the bar on local farmers’ market food offerings by inviting San Diego chefs to create their own mini-restaurants on-site. This is no charity sampling event. Like the Ferry Farmers’ Market in San Francisco and Chicago’s Greenmarket, chefs will create their own menus and prepare and sell their fare on-site. The event debuts June 7 and will continue on Saturday mornings from 9 am to 1:30 pm year-round. Garnering great pre-opening press, it promises to follow in the footsteps of other Little Italy events and attract big crowds. Interested in participating?
